THE ORIGIN OF TENGU
Tengu (Japanese: 天狗, "heavenly sentinel"), A legendary creature in Japanese history. Tengu are also classified as a type of Yōkai (supernatural beings) or Shinto-kami (gods in the Shinto religion).Traditionally, Tengu can take the form of a combined human and bird. Tengu in ancient times (early times) were often depicted with long beaks. However, it was humanized with a very unnaturally long nose, which is now widely considered to be a Tengu. Buddhist followers have long believed that tengu are disturbing demons and that their presence is a sign of war. However, the image of Tengu has slowly improved over time and now they are better known as very protective guardian spirits of mountains and forests. The main task of Tengu is to keep the area where they live clean from poison and intimidation by evil spirits.

TENGU; MAHOUTOKORO JP STUDENT ORGANIZATION
Tengu is an organization established by gakusei of Mahoutokoro. Rooted in the traditional image of the Tengu figures in folklore known for their vigilance, wisdom, and protective nature, the organization is committed to maintaining the integrity, order, and safety of the school environment. Its role is to prevent the infiltration of harmful influences and ensure that Mahoutokoro remains a secure space for magical education and personal development.
As of 21 April 2025, Tengu functions as a single, unified division. This structural change reflects a commitment to streamlined coordination and collective responsibility. All members now contribute together to manage internal matters, provide support during school events, and uphold institutional values. While its format has evolved, the organization continues to be guided by the spirit of the Daitengu (大天狗), symbolic of wisdom, strength, and principled leadership.
